It’s 12:49 AM and I AM WIRED. It’s all thanks to that Espresso Milkshake that I bought, photographed, and therefore consumed tonight at Go Get Em Tiger.
Needless to say, it was delicious. But man am I awake! Guess it’s time to finally write this thing.
BOOM. 5 THINGS.
1 A LATE NIGHT HILLSONG WORSHIP NIGHT - So the main reason why I didn’t get a 5TT out on time was because a huge chunk of my Tuesday night was actually me standing in line for church.
Hillsong LA was kicking off their new church plant with two worship services. I decided to go to the 8:30 PM even though my roommate bailed on me (for good reason). But they underestimated the amount of people that would show up so they didn’t have any more room in the venue. It wasn’t until about 9 PM that they announced an impromptu 10 PM service for overflow.
There were literally CROWDS OF PEOPLE were waiting in line with me for 90 minutes just to go in and worship. That’s so crazy to me but awesome. My roommate was able to come because of that late service, which was perfect. Worship was amazing. Ben Houston is super excited about the new church plant. And Young & Free frickin rocked it.
God is good. Hands down. He’s doing amazing things in Los Angeles.
2 FAT TUESDAY MIDNIGHT PANCAKES - And what great way to end a late Tuesday Night Worship service? WITH PANCAKES. OBVIOUSLY.
It’s pretty much the best. FAT TUESDAY!!
3 OBSERVING LENT - And with Fat Tuesday comes Lent. I always forget about it until it comes … it’s like Advent. It’s something I know of and wish I planned ahead for so I could prayerfully consider how I’d observe this time, but I never do.
So I’ve been spending the past day or so thinking about how I want to observe lent. And well, I’ve decided that for 40 days I’m going to revert back to some of the old Honor Academy rules. Just to detox some crap out of my life and put back into practice some good habits.
Like no alcohol for 40 days … I can do that. And no secular music. No rated R movies. Exercise 4x a week. Go to church. There’s more, although I can’t remember them all.
But I did it for an entire year back when I was 19. I think I can do it for 40 days. (PS - I love the significance of the number 40 in the Bible. That’s always when God wanted to set His people aside to do some serious work in them. ie. 40 days of rain for Noah, 40 years in the desert, Moses on the mount for 40 days, Goliath challenged the Israelites for 40 days while God prepared David …)
I’m ready. Let’s do this.
4 CRAZY BUSY - Well, another thing that’s been going on is that I’ve been terribly busy lately! Like I have multiple work projects going on right now and it’s awesome. But it’s to the point where I’m having to find time to plan, shoot, edit, strategize, meet with people, buy props, do walk-throughs, cull through photos, find people to outsource to … it’s all GOOD but it’s also very unexpected.
I’m so grateful for it too because it’s a good mixture of both passion projects and paid projects. I have model test shoots and time to work on my book, and I also have bigger paid assignments too. That alone is just a praise!
So yeah. Crazy busy but super grateful for what God is doing.
5 RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY … HELLO SUNSHINE? Well the last thing on the post is actually the weather because it’s still semi relevant. We had CRAZY rain storms last week. I’ve seriously never seen it rain like that here ever. I’m from Seattle and we’ve never had rain like that! I had to change my outfit 3 times in one day just because I was drenched every time I went outside.
But here we are a week later and it’s all sunny again. California is weird.
I just want to make sure I have a pair of Hunters on hand for next time.
