A LITTLE BIT OF CREATIVE INSPIRATION

It’s been awhile since I’ve just posted any photo inspirational shots. I used to do it all the time … but I’ve been kind of not in the know lately. My bad. I have to get intentional about this kind of stuff again.

There was a time when I used to go to Borders just to flip through magazines and sip Seattle’s Best Coffee.  Seriously, that was my happy place.

I used to call it “market research.” Mostly because I wanted to work for RELEVANT at the time, so it was market research. But now it’s still relevant (ha, pun) but it’s more for the sake of editorial/fashion photography.

All this to say - here are some awesome fashion campaigns that caught my eye.

  • GAP (photo above) - making normal look good. Featuring celebrities such as Zosia Mamet, Elisabeth Moss (a fan fav), and others.
  • ARTIZIA (photo below) - bring on the fashionably fall looks, you Canadian retailer, you.

Other thoughts about photography specifically: that top shot for the Gap is a lot more difficult than it seems. Getting the angle right, making sure the model and the clothes look good like that … that’s tricky stuff. But totally worth it because it looks good. And I like the bottom photo because the flash is more prominent and brighter. It comes off more hot than I usually photograph my subjects. I’d like to experiment with this.
