Serendipitous

Is it just me or is everyone moving lately?  There’s change on the horizon …

So little announcement:  I’m moving.

I know right?  Finally.  Not to Paris, this picture is kind of misleading.  I saw it and thought it was pretty.  And it reminded me of my good friend, Ann.  She’s the one who just moved to Paris.

And I have other friends moving to Tulsa (which is one of my favorite places).

And there’s a few others.  There’s just change in the air … like those pretty balloons.  I wonder if that Geronimo thing is still happening.  I want to be there for that.

Anyways.  I’m going to my cousin’s wedding next weekend in LA and then I’m just going to stay.  I needed a change of scenery and there’s a lot of friends & family in that area.  So I’ll be moving in with my friend Rita in Santa Monica.

If you ask me what my game plan is, I’m not quite sure.  I’m just moving.  I feel like the timing is right.  The location is right.  And everything else will fall into place.

We’ll see what happens when I get there.  I’ll definitely keep you posted.

Cheers!

5 Things Tuesday

Happy Tuesday.  Here are 5 Things going on in my life right now.

1  COMEDY WEEKEND - I love me some stand-up comedy.  What can I say?  I LOVE to laugh.  And if any of you ever lived down the hall from me (Delta Tau) or worked with me (RELEVANT Mag) you probably heard me laughing out loud pretty much all the time.

Anyways.  This weekend was a double whammy of hilarity!  First was the Anjelah Johnson show at the Paramount Theater.  She was hilarious!  And then when we got home there was the new John Mulaney: New in Town special on the DVR.  Oh gosh.  Ridiculous.

Check out their stuff!  You’ll LOVE IT.

2  SEO RYAN GOSLING - So I work for this SEO company, and in my educational browsing I found this Tumblr blog.  Holy crap.  This stuff is hilarious.  That is, if you’re a marketing/SEO person … it’s pretty darn amazing.

The Ryan Gosling meme’s have been a thing lately.  So I’m glad this happened.

3  DID YOU CATCH THE CHUCK FINALE?  Because I want to know what you think.  It seemed kind of sad/open-ended.  Like there was this awesome, crazy twist at the end and there he was, Chuck, trying to get his woman back because he loves her so much.

But then it was like never really resolved.  But there was all this love and memories and throwbacks to old moments … makes me want to watch the series from the beginning.

4  I’VE BEEN WEARING MY PIXIE PENDANT LATELY - I forgot how much I like this one.  It’s so pretty.  I think I’m going to keep it for myself!  Don’t worry … I’ll share the love.  Make some more eventually.  Maybe even do a blog giveaway!

In the meantime, take 20% off at the store if you use the code “HAPPYTUESDAY” during checkout.

5  IT’S LEAP YEAR THIS YEAR - So we get an extra day in February … what are you going to do with it?  It’s natural to always want more time.  Whether that’s time to spend with family or to sleep/rest or to do something for yourself, you should do it.

This day only comes around once every four years.  1) it would suck to have your birthday on February 29.  Or it can be equally awesome.  2) I think I’m going to do something extra special on that day.  It’s one month away.  On a Wednesday.  I’m going to do something GREAT on that day.  I don’t know what yet, but yes.  I’ll keep you posted.

If you have any suggestions, let me know!

CREATIVE INSPIRATION / Live The Language - London

I really like this video for a few reasons:

  • It’s London.  Hello.  City crush.
  • It’s from EF Tours - the same program that my Humanities class used when we went to London my senior year.
  • The photography direction in this video (and all the other EF videos) are awesome.
  • Combine #3 with typography and we have a winner.
  • Plus it has that marketing appeal that I like.  My brain is part travel, photography, design, and business.  “Live the language” is the tag line for the whole campaign.
  • Anyways.  I wanted to share the video I found.  Enjoy!

    5 Things Tuesday

1  CHUCK FINALE - This week marks the series finale for NBC’s Chuck.  I have been a huge fan ever since Zac Levi was the cover story for our Jan/Feb issue.  I started to watch the series out of “market research” for the mag and ended up loving the show.

After a few “save the show” campaigns and a lovely sponsorship by Subway, we have 5 complete seasons.  The two hour finale airs this Friday.  I’m going to be watching.

2  BILLY ON THE STREET - I was flipping through channels the other day and landed upon the new Funny or Die show on Fuse.  It’s sort of like Cash Cab with it’s random trivia for cash in busy Manhattan.  But it’s more pop culture questions with a twist of the subjective.  The host, Billy Eichner, is spontaneous and a bit crazy.  But it results in a hilarious show.

I definitely did some laughing.  And shouting the answers at my TV.  That’s how I do.

3  SCRAMBLE WITH FRIENDS - so I started playing this game on my iPhone.  And honestly it’s pretty addictive.  My friend’s husband extended a FB invite to play him so I have like 3 games going with him right now.  Because I’m determined to beat him!

I can’t seem to beat him or my sister.  They’re just too good.  It’s annoying!  It’s a good thing this version makes you pay “tokens” in order to play.  I have to wait 20 minutes in between new tokens … so it limits my playing time.  Thank you Zynga for designing it that way.

Anyways.  Play me!  My user name is “joannegarcia”

4  A DAMIAN/CAMERON VIDEO - these two were my favorite in the Glee Project.  Here’s an awesome acoustic cover of The Script’s “If you ever come back.”  Check it.

5  DONE WITH BOSSYPANTS, ON TO ENTRELEADERSHIP - I love media and the art of story telling through television/movies a lot.  That’s why the two new books that I got were so exciting.  But I’m also a business nerd at heart.  So I’m going to read Dave Ramsey’s newest book “Entreleadership” before heading over to Mindy Kaling’s book.

I’m excited.  I could use some guidance for my business / entrepreneurship / leadership life.
